ABOUT US
The Impact Collective brings people with wealth together to connect, reflect, and act — exploring the role money can play in building a more just economy.
Through retreats, conversations, and community, individuals and families explore questions many don't get space to ask — about privilege, purpose, and impact — and use their resources to help create a world that's more just.
MISSION & VISION
Our mission is to activate people with wealth to close the racial wealth gap. We envision a just economy where all people enjoy collective abundance and liberation.
"The future is not an escapist place to occupy. All of it is the inevitable result of what we do today and the more we take it in our hands, imagine it as a place of justice and pleasure, the more the future knows we want it and that we aren't letting go.”

OUR APPROACH
The Impact Collective’s approach rests on five pillars that we believe drive change. These pillars are activated through our programs, partnerships, and communications.
- Knowledge: Learn about the racial wealth gap and develop skills for change.
- Accountability: Take responsibility for injustice in yourself and the world.
- Community: Build trust to challenge each other and grow together.
- Courage: Activate your power in service of your humanity and values.
- Action: Activate the breadth of your resources and influence.

OUR PEOPLE
The Impact Collective brings together individuals and organizations across a range of sectors, communities, and racial identities to create tangible opportunities to increase equitable access to capital.
As a grassroots organization, our mission depends on individuals and organizations coming together to collectively create impact. We are grateful for our growing network of advisors, partners, and workshop facilitators and alumni.
"If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together.”

CAREERS
Since 2021, hundreds of people have moved through Impact Collective's programming, including over 75 alumni of our intensive Retreat for Women. We've spent five years proving this model works — and we're ready to grow it with intention, building rooted communities in both Boston and the Bay Area.
Hiring our first Managing Director!
Applications close September 4, 2026
We're looking to hire a builder who's excited to take something that's already working and help it grow. You'd partner closely with our founder, Julia Johannsen, as a key architect of that expansion: leading across culture, programs, operations, and external relations as we scale with care.

OUR THEORY OF CHANGE
The Impact Collective believes that white Americans with class privilege have an outsized opportunity to impact the racial wealth gap.
We believe that if we...
- Shift Mindsets among white people with class privilege;
- Work Alongside Others who share our vision and complement our value;
- Inspire Courage and Action in service of economic and racial justice; and
- Connect People to Opportunities to deploy capital and wealth, and activate their influence.
Then...

- Cultural Norms, Policies, and Practices will shift to generate and celebrate increased inclusivity, equity, and justice;
- Cross-Racial Relationships and Connections will be forged and will enrich cultures, communities, families, and individuals.
- Access to Capital and Power will no longer be predetermined by the color of your skin.
- Wealth will be common among people of color, who have historically been denied access to capital.
Programs
A range of programs bring our five pillars to life, including the flagship Intensive Workshop for white women; accountability programming for workshop alumni; guest and mini-workshops; and an open-armed collective that creates tangible opportunities for increasing equitable access to capital through cross-racial and multi-sector partnerships, hiring practices, and investments.
Diverse Community of Thought Partners
CLTV aggressively gathers input from a diverse community of partners, leaders, and peers and is specifically nurturing a dedicated group of majority Black advisors to formally guide our strategy, actions, and capital flow as we strive to center impact as defined by Black communities.
The Black-White Wealth Gap
CLTV focuses specifically on the Black-white wealth gap because the impact of financial inequity and intergenerational wealth is disproportionately felt by Black people and communities.
White Women with Class Privilege
CLTV works with those in the white community with wealth and class privilege because we believe those who have historically benefited from societal inequities should share the burden of explaining and dismantling structural racism. We see untapped potential for white women to leverage their access to wealth and influence to redirect capital to economically marginalized communities and ultimately help close the racial wealth gap.
OUR THEORY OF CHANGE
The Impact Collective believes that white Americans with class privilege have an outsized opportunity to impact the racial wealth gap.
We believe that if we...
- Inspire Action among white people with class privilege,
- Connect People to Opportunities for concrete action, and
- Support Pathways to redistribute capital and wealth,
Then...
People of Color who have historically been denied access to capital Will Be Able to Build Wealth.
