What to Expect
We are so excited to gather for our first-ever Alumni retreat! Thank you for saying yes. You can expect a weekend of deep connection, joy, singing, and somatic exploration. There is some pre-work below to support you in arriving. And as always, come as you are.
After this workshop, you will have:
- Developed deeper relationships with yourself, each other, and CLTV - building belonging is the root of sustained action;
- Built your capacity to identify, engage & invite your communities into CLTV;
- Created a clear vision of how your CLTV work fits into the rest of your life;
- Experimented with embodiment practices.

Step 2: Complete Pre-Work
Pre-Work Goals:
- To turn our attention toward the retreat in order to prepare to be together to learn and build community;
- Build a framework around the body as a partner in our racial justice work.
Pre-Work
These assignments can be done in any order. Truly. There is no right way or best way. Do what calls to you first. All of them are meant to grease the wheels and offer some baseline shared information for us to consider once together.
1. Watch A Movement That Can Grow, a reflection by Prentis Hemphill (~34 mins);
2. Read What is Somatics - an interview with somatic practitioner Sumitra Rajkumar (~7 mins);
3. Read What do I mean by organizing? by Michael Gast, Organize the Rich (~12 mins);
4. Review the Spheres of Influence worksheet (~10 mins).
Optional Go-Deeper:
2. Listen to Visualization and values - podcast episode - while a lot of this is based on sports research it really digs in to find our purpose and our longings for what we care about which is core to making big and small changes (~29 minutes);
3. Journal reflection (just for you; not to be shared- please don’t spend more than 15 minutes answering these questions )
a.) What led me to participate in the Alumni Retreat? What do I hope to gain from this experience?
b.) What do I notice in my body after exploring the pre-work?
c.) Why do I want to go deeper with Impact Collective?
